United Kingdom: A 15-year-old boy and girl have been detained on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of a 16-year-old girl in Warrington park.
On Saturday, members of the public discovered Brianna Ghey at Linear Park in Culcheth, Cheshire.
She was discovered laying on a path with multiple stab wounds shortly after 15:00 and emergency services were dispatched. She was declared deceased at the scene.
Teenagers from the local neighbourhood have been apprehended and are being held in jail.
Det Ch Supt Mike of the Cheshire Constabulary stated that a variety of investigations were underway and detectives were attempting to determine the “precise circumstances” of her death.
“At this moment, there is no evidence to imply that Brianna’s death was motivated by hatred,” he explained.
Local patrols have been increased, and officers will remain in the Culcheth area to reassure locals and answer any concerns they may have.
Earlier, police stated that a post-mortem study was being conducted to determine the cause of Brianna’s death and that officers were assisting Brianna’s family from the nearby town of Birchwood.
They stated that officers were continuing to trace the murder weapon and determine the attack’s motive.
Extra officers are patrolling the area, which is a popular place for dog walking.
Anyone with information or evidence concerning the incident is urged to contact the authorities.
The police in Warrington, a town located between Liverpool and Manchester, are eager for local residents and businesses to examine CCTV and dashcam material for evidence.
