President Donald Trump’s head of staff Mark Meadows has been diagnosed with coronavirus, displaying the latest White House official to test positive for the disease, according to reports.
It appears as the United States set new daily records for established cases of the virus for the third following day on Friday with over 127,000 infections.
Two senior government officials approved on Friday that Meadows had tested positive for the virus.
They gave no items on when the chief of staff got down with the virus or his current condition, according to statements by Bloomberg News.
Meadows went with Trump in the run-up to election day and last performed in public early Wednesday morning without a protection as Trump wrongly claimed victory in the vote count. He had been one of the private aides around Trump when the director was infected with virus a month ago, but was tested everyday and had his regular work plan.
It considered the latest case of the virus in the White House, receiving less than two weeks after Marc Short, Vice President Mike Pence’s head of staff, and other aides tests positive for the virus.
Trump, first lady Melania Trump, and others examined positive for the virus in early October after Trump held large groups of people not using face-masks, including the services announcing the nomination of now-Justice Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.
Trump has frequently said that the nation is “rounding the turn” on the pandemic, which was top of mind for voters in Tuesday’s election.
COVID-19 cases in the U.S. have grown more than 50 per cent in the past two weeks. According to the analysis of data from John Hopkins University by the Associated Press, the 7-day rolling score for daily new cases rose from 61,166 on October 22 to 94,625 on November 5.
