The Department of Justice has told legal advisors for previous FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe that he won’t deal with criminal indictments for purportedly deceiving agents about a break to the media, the ex-authority’s lawyers said Friday.
“We took in toward the beginning of today through a call from D.C. U.S. Lawyer’s Office that was trailed by a letter that the Justice
Department’s criminal examination of Andrew McCabe has been shut,” McCabe’s legal counsellors said in an announcement. “Finally, equity has been done right now.”
President Donald Trump had openly asked that move be made against McCabe, the previous representative FBI chief who became acting leader of the office after Trump terminated James Comey in 2017.
“He LIED! LIED! LIED!” Trump wrote in one 2018 tweet about McCabe after the Justice Department’s reviewer general discovered McCabe “needed openness” when being met about whether he was a hotspot for two news stories relating to the FBI in 2016.
The declaration came one day after Attorney General William Barr pushed back against analysis he’s utilizing DOJ to make Trump’s offering.
