An 11-year-old student has started shooting in a school in northern Mexico, killing a teacher and harming six others before shooting himself dead, authorities stated. The episode occurred at the private Colegio Cervantes school in the city of Torreón in Coahuila state. It was not clear what his thought processes were.
Despite the fact that murders are on the ascent in Mexico, acts of mass violence are uncommon. The kid – who has not been identified – as a decent understudy who lived with his grandma and had ordinary conduct, Civic chairman Jorge Zermeño revealed to Milenio television.
He had two weapons, Mr Zermeño said. It was not clear how the kid had gotten them.
The shooting occurred at about 09:00 nearby time (15:00 GMT) on Friday in Torreón, some 800km (500 miles) from the capital, Mexico City. The civic chairman said police were all the while attempting to find his folks. The harmed included, five understudies and physical training instructor.
They are in stable conditions in a medical clinic.
Coahuila state Representative Miguel Heavenly attendant Riquelme said the kid had requested to go to the restroom toward the beginning of the school day. His educator went to search for him following 15 minutes, and the kid at that point started shooting his weapons, Mr Riquelme said.
Mr Riquelme said the kid had worn a shirt bearing the name of the computer game Natural selection, somewhat a first-individual shooter game.
