An arrest warrant for former President Evo Morales has been issued by Bolivian prosecutors. The head of the Bolivian police’s Public Corruption Division, Luis Fernando Guarachi, stated on Wednesday that the warrant is issued against asserted insurrection and terrorism-related to accusations from the interim government that he has been provoking unrest in the country
Bolivian Interior Minister Arturo Murillo brought up the charges against the Former President. Murillo alleged that Morales (former president) encouraged violent clashes that resulted in the death of 35 people during distress during and after leaving office in November.
After the announcement of the warrant, Morales tweeted that after years of revolution, the ‘best gift’ that he obtained from the de facto government is the unjust, illegal and unconstitutional arrest warrant.
Morales stated that the arrest warrant does not scare him as long as he has life and he will proceed with more force in the political and ideological fight for a free and sovereign Bolivia.
As per officials, Former President Evo Morales encouraged his followers to create agitation and blockade in cities in an endeavour to overthrow the interim government of Jeanine Anez who took office after his resignation in November.
