Leading opposition group of Poland announced a veteran for Presidential vote. The centre-right Civic Platform (PO) chose party expert, recognised for establishing consensus on Saturday as its contender to replace nationalist ally Andrzej Duda in a presidential ballot scheduled next year.
However, the left and right-wing are yet to announce their candidate for the upcoming presidential elections due by 2020.
Malgorzata Kidawa-Blonska, 62, is a former parliament speaker is trailing for Duda with the margin of double-eight. Nevertheless, as per her party, she will be able to attract the undecided voters of the country.
“It is not simple to be in the center in populist times,” said Grzegorz Schetyna, the leader of Civic Platform, before of the party election.
Since the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) government came to power in 2015, it shifted the political landscape of the country.
As per Political analysts, Kidawa-Blonska’s benefit is that she can win over the undecided voters.
Late November opinion polls by IBRiS for Polish daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna and private radio RMF FM tells that Duda would make a win at 46.2% of the votes while ith Kidawa-Blonska trailing on 23.3%
