Boris Johnson to say goodbye to all COVID isolation rules in England

Boris Johnson, the British Prime Minister, says that laws in England that require people with COVID-19 to stay inside could be lifted by the end of the month because of a drop in infections. This would mean that all domestic coronavirus restrictions would be lifted.

What he told the UK Parliament on Wednesday: “If there are any more encouraging trends in the data, we should be able to end the last domestic restrictions (like having to stay home if you test positive) sooner than expected.”

People who test positive now have to stay away from other people for five full days. That rule will end on March 24.

On February 21, Johnson said he plans to show how he plans to get rid of COVID restrictions.

In addition, lawmakers in the House of Commons asked him about a picture that was published on Wednesday by the Daily Mirror newspaper that showed him at a Christmas quiz in December 2020 when strict rules about social gatherings were in place.

Johnson said that the event had already been sent to the police for investigation as part of their investigation into alleged lockdown-breaking events that took place at Downing Street during the pandemic, which Johnson said had already been done.

The embattled prime minister has been urged to resign by members of the opposition over the “Partygate” scandal, and some members of his own party have also tried to start a vote of no confidence in his leadership, which could lead to him leaving office.

There were still some restrictions on COVID-19 that Johnson’s government didn’t remove last month. People in the rest of England don’t have to wear face masks anymore, except on public transportation in London. As a result of the virus, the official advice to stay home and work from home was also scrapped.

There has been a big drop in both new infections and COVID-19 patients going to hospitals in the UK since early January, when the highly contagious Omicron variant sent caseloads up to more than 200,000 per day. The moves came as a result.

The average number of infections each day is now around 64,000, which is the lowest number since mid-December.

Officials say the government’s booster jab programme kept the surge of cases caused by Omicron from putting a lot of strain on the UK’s healthcare system. There are 65.4 percent of people in the United States who have had a booster vaccine, and 84.5 percent have been fully vaccinated.
