Belgium’s potato industry is requesting the government to contribute and assist it with enduring the coronavirus lockdown.
While the nation is notable for its fries, the industry has hardly any customers at home. Overall, 90 per cent of potatoes are sent out.
In any case, with movement bans and eateries shut far and wide, the nourishment inventory network has been upset.
“This is the first run through ever that the potato division is requesting backing to the legislature,” concedes Romain Cools, secretary-general of Belgapom, the affiliation speaking to the Belgian potato exchange and preparing industry.
