Twelve men have been observed hiding inside a refrigerated lorry in an auto park near a motorway in Belgium’s Antwerp province, local police said.
The driver called Police to the scene on Tuesday night when he suspected that people had climbed inside his fruit and vegetable lorry.
Eleven Syrians and one Sudanese man were found secure and nice and had been passed over to immigration officials.
Last week, 39 humans had been observed lifeless in a refrigerated lorry in England. The driver of the vehicle, which had arrived in England by using the Belgian ferry port of Zeebrugge, has been charged with their manslaughter.
It’s far believed that folks who died had been migrants from Vietnam or China looking to input the UK illegally. It isn’t always but clean how they died, whether or not they iced over or suffocated.
The lorry becomes standing in an automobile park beside the E34 toll road at Oud-Turnhout. The dual carriageway runs from Zeebrugge to Germany’s North Rhine-Westphalia vicinity. The Destination spot of the lorry was now not provided.
Each year, hundreds of migrants try to input the United Kingdom illegally through European ferry ports, typically hiding in vehicles.
A spokeswoman for Belgian shipping federation Febetra said, “Refrigerated lorries are regularly targeted due to the fact it’s far easier to pass warmness scanners that way”.
Febetra has been calling for safer dual carriageway parking to address the trouble, Isabelle De Maegt informed Belgian broadcaster VRT.
