Recent attack in Kyiv kills innocent children

Officials in Ukraine say that a new missile attack at night on Kyiv killed two children and an adult and hurt more than a dozen people.

Russia has been sending missiles and drones to attack the capital of Ukraine on a daily basis.

The most recent attacks took place in the eastern areas of Desnyanskyi and Dniprovskyi.

Officials in Ukraine said that the information they had so far about the dead and hurt was not complete.

The Kyiv city military administration wrote on Telegram that one of the children who died was between 5 and 6 years old and the other was between 12 and 13 years old. Both were in the district of Desnyanskyi.

This was the fourth attack on the Ukrainian capital this week. In May, there were 17 attacks on the city. Most of them happened at night, but at least one happened during the day.

Images from the military showed people being helped by rescue teams and buildings that had been injured.

In several early morning posts on Telegram, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that the city had been hit by a “series of explosions” and that rescue workers were dealing with fires and falling debris.

He said that 14 people were hurt, and that nine of them had to go to the hospital.

Also, officials backed by Russia in the seized part of Ukraine’s eastern Luhansk region said that Ukrainian shelling at a chicken farm on Wednesday killed five people and hurt 19.

On Thursday morning, the governor of the western Russian region of Belgorod, which borders Ukraine, said that Ukrainian troops had attacked the town of Shebekino and hurt at least two people.

“Once again, Shebekino’s night is tense. “Ukrainian troops had been shelling the city for an hour,” Vyacheslav Gladkov wrote on his Telegram account.

In the past few weeks, Russia has been using kamikaze drones and a variety of cruise and ballistic missiles to hit targets in Ukraine. Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.

Analysts think that Moscow is trying to weaken and damage Ukraine’s air forces before a long-awaited counterattack, which the Ukrainian government has been planning for months.
