New rapid testing kits to distinguish between COVID-19 and normal flu

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact the entire world, there are new test kits that are going to be available in hospitals and care homes of England. These kits are claimed to give the results in 90 minutes.

The government stated that these on the spot swab and DNA tests would assist in distinguishing between COVID019 and other seasonal flu. As per the health secretary said this new testing kits would highly benefit in the winter season.

At present, a large number of testing kits takes at least 24 hours to process actual results.

The new testing kit decision appears as the government launched back a July target to continually examine all care home staff and residents to recognise so-called quiet spreaders, those who are affected but do not show indications. However, it is exteremely unlikely to be completed until September because the number of testing kits had become more limited.

The government announced that over half a million of these new rapid testing kitts named as Lampore would be made available from coming week at all hospitals and care centres of the country. Millions of more kits are also announced to be distributed later this year
