Lewandowski’s Hat-Trick Inspires Barcelona to Thrilling Victory Over Celta Vigo

Robert Lewandowski scored a sensational hat-trick as Barcelona overcame Celta Vigo 4-2 on Sunday to close the gap on La Liga leaders Real Madrid to just three points.

The Polish striker opened the scoring in the ninth minute, converting from the penalty spot after Marcos Alonso handled Fermin Lopez’s goal-bound shot. It was the perfect start for Xavi Hernandez’s men, who aimed to capitalize on Real Madrid’s earlier slip against Rayo Vallecano.

However, the lead was short-lived. Just 22 seconds after Marcus Rashford missed a one-on-one chance at the other end, Celta Vigo hit back through Sergio Carreira, finishing off a swift counter-attack to make it 1-1.

Rashford redeemed himself in the 36th minute, setting up Lewandowski for his second goal of the night. The English forward delivered a precise cross that the Polish veteran volleyed into the net to restore Barcelona’s advantage.

But the first half continued at a frenetic pace as Celta Vigo again found an equalizer. Borja Iglesias curled a superb effort into the top corner from the edge of the box, leaving Marc-André ter Stegen with no chance.

Teenager Lamine Yamal ensured Barcelona went into the break ahead, scoring in stoppage time from another Rashford delivery. The 17-year-old pounced on a deflected cross at the back post to make it 3-2 and shift momentum firmly in Barcelona’s favor.

Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the 73rd minute, heading home Rashford’s near-post corner. The goal marked his third La Liga hat-trick, adding to his 16 career trebles in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

Despite Frenkie de Jong’s late red card for tripping Iago Aspas, Barcelona held firm during stoppage time to secure a vital three points.

The victory sees Barcelona capitalize on Real Madrid’s earlier draw, tightening the title race as the season intensifies. Manager Xavi Hernandez praised his side’s resilience and Lewandowski’s leadership, calling it “a performance that defines champions.”

With this win, Barcelona remain firmly in contention, showing flashes of their best attacking football — and with Lewandowski in this kind of form, they will believe anything is possible.
