Australia shuts down borders because of increasing COVID-19 cases

Australia is shutting its fringe between two of its most crowded states, specialists said Monday, as authorities declared measures to handle a spike in coronavirus cases in Melbourne. 

The outskirt between the states Victoria and New South Wales will be shut from noon on Tuesday, authorities from the two countries said. 

The move comes as Melbourne, Victoria’s capital, declared a flood of 127 new cases on Monday. 

Victoria’s Premier Daniel Andrews said the choice to cut off the state was “the brilliant call, the correct call as of now, given the noteworthy difficulties we face in containing this infection”. 

Australia has recorded in excess of 8,500 instances of COVID-19 and 105 deaths from the infection. 

The nation had facilitated limitations over the most recent couple of weeks. Yet, Melbourne has seen a flood in network transmissions, which has pushed specialists to put nine skyscraper open lodging towers, home to 3,000 occupants, into lockdown on Saturday. 

Severe social separating measures have additionally been implemented in 30 rural areas. 

“What is happening in Victoria has not yet happened anyplace else in Australia,” said New South Wales head Gladys Berejiklian. 

“It’s another piece of the pandemic and, in that capacity, it requires another sort of reaction,” she included.
