France has been undergoing protests from past few weeks over the newly proposed pension reforms. On Saturday, protestors marching against the government clashed with police forces in Paris. Police had to fire teargas to tackle the sensitive situation.
French trade unions have initiated national strikes from early December in an objection over French President Emmanuel Macron’s new amendment to pensions reforms. The weeks’ long demonstrations in the country have caused inconvenience to inhabitants and even tourists.
Demonstrators gathered near the tourist spots and including the Pompidou Centre where the protestors set barricades ablaze.
The transport network around the country remained disrupted, railways and metro works insisted that they will remain on strike to keep up the pressure on President.
Laurent Djebali, the representative of the metro branch, stated that they are ready to hold the protests for quite a while.
President Emmanuel Macron claims that his reform is favourable to a more balanced policy that will inspire workers to stay in the labour force until 64 instead of 62 and this will even assist in balancing the pension budget while eliminating many specific regimes.
