US schedules first woman execution in 70 years

The United States would execute Lisa Montgomery on December 8 with a lethal injection. This execution would be the first federal execution of a woman in the US in about 70 years.

Lisa Montgomery was convicted of murdering a woman named Bobbie Jo Stinnett and then cutting an eight-month-old unborn baby from her womb in 2004.

If Lisa Montgomery gets executed on 8 December, then this is likely to be the first woman execution in 70 years and ninth federal execution in the United States in 2020 as federal executions were continued after a pause of 20 years.

Lisa now 52-year-old was only 36-year-old when she performed the heinious crime. She was sentenced by a Missouri court in 2008, of abduction ending in the death of a person.

As per the New York Times, the 36-year-old Lisa murdered a 23-year-old pregnant woman named Bobbie. The crime took place at Bobbie’s house after they attended on the appearance that Lisa wanted to purchase a rat terrier puppy from Bobbie.

During that course, the victim Bobbie and her husband owned a dog breeding business and were operating from their residence. Lisa came across their business through an online advertisement.

The communication between Lisa and Bobbie initiated, where Lisa wrongfully claimed to be pregnant like Bobbie. After chatting for a while Lisa met Bobbie at her residence in December 2004 where she killed her by strangulation to cut the baby girl out of the 23-year-old pregnant woman’s womb and took home. She also claimed to be the mother of the baby.

Lisa was caught law enforcement agencies the next day by tracing her from the online chats she had with Bobbie.

Lisa is now listed to be killed on December 8 by lethal injection. She would become the fourth woman in US history to be executed if her execution is carried out.
