Ukranian authorities to investigate the illegal arrival of people through Russian-built bridge

A criminal investigation has been carried out by Ukrainian officials after passenger train from Russia arrived in Crimea via the newly started Russian-built bridge.

As per the officials probing the case, the train has illegally transported people across the Ukrainian borders.

Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated this railway bridge on Tuesday. After the opening ceremony, President had stated that this bridge expected to transport more than 14 million passengers and about 13 million tons of cargo.

The first train arrived in Sevastopol from St Petersburg which is among the most popular cities in Russia with being the second-largest.

Russia annexed Crimea because inhabitants of the peninsula chose to join up with Russia in ballots. The annexation obtained widespread international criticism including U.S. and European Union sanctions on Russia. Ukraine has prevented the shipment of supplies via its territory to Crimea.

The Ukrainian government has regularly stated the new drawbridge was built in contravention of international laws. In October 2018, prosecutors initiated a criminal case against the companies involved in its construction.
