Ukraine’s President admitted to hospital after testing positive for coronavirus

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been hospitalised after catching the novel coronavirus beginning of this week, a presidential office announced on Thursday.

“He first went home but chose to move to Feofania (hospital). To correctly quarantine and not expose anyone to the virus,” a presidential spokeswoman told.

“There is better health for patients. Nothing severe,” she declared, referring to the president’s health.

The authorities stated that the President is in good health and admitted to hospital just for better isolation and other facilities. He will be discharged soon considering his health.

Coronavirus cases in Ukraine continue to spike despite the government attempting to take better cautions.

President Volodymyr Zelensky, announced on Monday that he tested positive for COVID-19. Besides him, three other top officials, including the finance minister, the defence minister and Zelenskyy’s first aide were also proclaimed to be contaminated by the coronavirus.

Ukraine’s daily tally of new coronavirus infections started spiking in late September and has continued consistently raised in October and November, pushing the government to increase some limitations until the end of the year.

On Wednesday, Zelenskyy’s cabinet decided to impose a national lockdown at weekends to encourage steps to control the rapid expanse of the coronavirus.

Ukraine recorded a total of 500,865 coronavirus cases as of Thursday, with 9,145 similar deaths.
