UK police drop investigation into Prince Andrew sexual abuse claim

British police say they will not take further action against Prince Andrew after conducting an investigation in response to the accusations made by Virginia Giuffre on the Royal member.

The London Metropolitan Police (Met) said in August that it would look into an earlier decision not to investigate charges related to US financier Jeffrey Epstein after Giuffre filed a lawsuit against Andrew in the US.

“This review is complete and we are not taking any further action,” Met said Sunday.

Giuffre is suing Queen Elizabeth II’s second son for sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager.Now 38, she claims she was trafficked by Epstein to have sex with Andrew in London about 20 years ago when she was 17 years old and a minor under US law. Under UK law, the age of consent was and remains 16.

Andrew, 61, was not charged with any of the charges and repeated the charges against him.

Last week, lawyers were given permission by Andrew to review a confidential 2009 agreement between Epstein and Giuffre, which they hope will release him from any liability in the case.

Andrew has until Oct. 29 to respond to the lawsuit.

The Met also said that its review of Uklo in June reported by the British Channel 4 News that Ghislaine Maxwell, the late Epstein’s ex-girlfriend, was abusing, caring for and abusing women and girls in Britain.

“We have also reviewed the information provided to us by a media organization in June 2021. This review is complete and no further action will be taken,” Met said.

Maxwell is in prison in New York, awaiting trial.
