PARIS, FRANCE — Pavel Durov, the founder of the popular Telegram messaging app, was detained by French authorities on Saturday evening at Bourget Airport near Paris, according to reports from CNN and BFMTV.
The French-Russian tech billionaire, who was arriving on a flight from Azerbaijan, was taken into custody by officers from France’s anti-fraud office, which is connected to French customs enforcement.
