Suicide bomber kills 13 in Pakistan

As per reports, nine security officers were killed and thirteen injured in a suicide attack on Monday. The attack happened in Southwest Pakistan, sending shockwaves across the country.

The explosion happened in Balochistan province as the officers were driving back to Quetta, the capital of the province, after keeping order at a festival.

Images show a police truck that has been hit and turned over, and there are stains of blood on the ground. This is the second attack on Balochistan’s security forces in 24 hours. No one or group has taken the blame.

The Deputy Police Commissioner of Kachhi district, Sami Agha, told the BBC that it was a suicide attack. Reuters said that the attacker hit the truck with a motorbike.

The government of Balochistan has condemned the attack and said that they are looking into it. The area has been blocked off, and authorities say a bomb disposal team is there to look for clues.

Abdul Quddus Bizenjo, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, said, “All of these plots against peace in the province will fail with the help of the public.”

The attack on Monday is the latest in a long line of attacks on security workers in Pakistan.

On Sunday, a bomb attack in Gwadar, a port city in the province, was aimed at a vehicle, killing a security officer and injuring eight other people. The banned militant separatist Balochistan Liberation Front has claimed responsibility.

On January 30, more than 80 police officers were killed when a bomb went off in a police mosque in the city of Peshawar in the northwest.

It is not clear who is behind the latest incident, but separatists in the Balochistan region have been fighting the government for decades. The Pakistani Taliban have also taken credit for other attacks like this in the past.

Balochistan is the poorest province in the country, and it has a large, porous border with both Afghanistan and Iran.
