Italy’s coach Julio Velasco praised his team’s achievement but acknowledged areas for improvement. “We needed to succeed, we might not have got back in time,” Velasco said.
“We made some mistakes and took it a little bit too easy. But to win 3-0 and reach the final, we have to be satisfied. We’ll prepare for the final like it’s any other game. It’s a gold medal match and we want to put on a show … We have a great responsibility on us.”

The third set saw Turkey’s Derya Cebecioglu stepping up, leading the attack as Turkey attempted to fend off Italy’s advances.
However, Italy continued their resilience, with Egonu making a crucial attack and serving an ace to turn the set in their favor. Sarah Fahr then delivered three pivotal blocks to seal Italy’s place in the final.
Italy’s progress to the gold medal match is a significant milestone for the team, who had previously faced Turkey just four days earlier in the pool stage, securing a 3-0 win.
