Hate Crime: Five stabbed during Hanukkah celebrations in Rabbi’s house in New York

A man in New York city stabbed five people in a house where people were celebrating the seventh night of Hanukkah. New York police said in a statement that the intruder rushed away in his vehicle after stabbing people in Rabbi’s house in upstate NY.

As per police statements, the incident took place around 10 pm when people had gathered to enjoy a party celebrating Hanukkah the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem.

People had gathered in Hasidic Rabbi’s house to rejoice on their festival.

According to public records, the home belongs to Rabbi Chaim Rottenberg, who heads the nearby synagogue. Many state and local officials had explained the location of the stabbings as a synagogue.

65-year-old witness Aron Kohn told media,” I was praying for my life, the knife used by the attacker was as big as a broomstick.”

Co-founder of the OJPAC for the Hudson Valley region, Yossi Gestetner said that there were dozens of people inside the house who had gathered to celebrate Hanukkah.

“one of the victims was a son of the rabbi” added Gestetner.

Israeli President Reuven also condemned the attack by referring to it as “shocking” and “outrageous”.

Earlier this month, two attackers targeted the kosher market in New Jersey. The attackers were associated with Black Hebrew Israelites, a campaign whose members have been known to rail against whites and Jews.
