Fugitive former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn meets Lebanese President

Fugitive former Nissan chairman Carlos Ghosn met Lebanon’s president after leaving Japan, where he was smuggled out of house arrest by a private security company, two sources close to Ghosn said on Wednesday.

As per sources, Ghosn was welcomed affectionately by President Michel Aoun on Monday.

The plan to shift Ghosn out of Japan, which noted the latest twist in a year-old story that has thrilled the global auto industry, was crafted for over three months, the two sources confirmed.

“It was a very professional operation from start to finish,” one of them said.

During the meetig at the presidency, former Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn thanked Lebanese President Michel Aoun for his support and assistance during the time he was in detention in Japan over the allegations of financial misconduct.

Sources added that after fleeing from Japan, Carlos now seeks security and protection of Lebanese government.

However, the meeting between these two have not been made public, media advisor to the president’s office denied any meeting beetwen Lebanese President and Carlos.

Nevertheless, sources of AFP news agency have confirmed the meeting.

Furthermore, Ghosn could not be reached out for his comments over the alleged meeting and he has been silent publically immediately after issuing a statement stating that he has escaped injustice and political prosticution from Japan.

As per Lebanese officials, no necessary action can be taken against Carlos Ghosn, because he entered Lebanon legally on his French passport, while his Lebanese, Brazillian and even French passports are with lawyers in Japan.

Lebanese and French foreign ministirs stated that the were unaware of unaware of the details of his journey.

Former Nissan CEO was first captured by Tokyo police in November 2018 and currently faces four charges, including hiding assets and income, along with benefitting himself through payments to car dealerships in the Middle East.
