BREAKING: 14 dead after Bek aeroplane crashes in Kazakhstan

A Bek Airlines plane with a total of 100 people on board including crew members crashed right after taking off in Almaty, the airport in Kazakhstan’s biggest city.

Around 14 people are reportedly killed in this crash while several others are severely injured.

Almaty airport confirmed through a Facebook post that emergency personnel arrived on the site and survivors were taken to the nearby hospitals. 

Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee stated that the passenger aircraft lost its altitude right after taking off and crash into a concrete fence before hitting a small building. 

The wreckage of the plane which was headed for Nur-Sultan, the Central Asian nation’s capital city was seen everywhere. 

Survivor of the plane crash told the media that the incident was as tragic as in the movies, and the aeroplane made loud noises before losing its altitude.

“The aircraft was flying with a tilt. All of it was like in a movie: screaming, shouting, people crying,” she said.

News agency AFP reported that 17 people are severely injured and taken to the nearby hospital.

As told by airport authorities in a statement, the plane crash happened right after the aircraft took over around 7:00 am (GMT), the plane lost the radar immediately after taking off.

No possible cause of the accident has been suggested by authorities so far. However, a Reuters reporter told that there was thick fog.

Aviation committee announced that all the flights of Fokker 100 aircraft are suspended until further notice. Kazakh carrier Bek Air, which runs a fleet of Fokker 100 jets, could not be instantly contacted for remark.
