King Charles III to be crowned on May 06, Buckingham Palace announces

Buckingham Palace says that King Charles III will be crowned on May 6, 2019, in a ceremony that will honour both the old and the new parts of the British monarchy.

Charles, who is 73 years old, will be crowned in London’s Westminster Abbey, as has been done for more than 900 years.

The palace said that the queen’s wife, Queen Consort Camilla, will also be crowned. She is 75 years old. The 4th of May is Archie’s birthday. He is the son of Prince Harry and his wife Meghan. He is the grandson of Charles.

In a short statement, royal representatives said that the coronation “will be rooted in long-standing traditions and pageantry, while reflecting the monarch’s position today and looking to the future.”

After much talk and speculation about when the ceremony might take place, the much-anticipated confirmation of the date comes just over a month after Charles’ mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died.

When Elizabeth died on September 8, Charles took over as ruler of the UK right away. He also took over as the leader of 14 Commonwealth countries, including Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

The 96-year-old queen died suddenly at her remote Scottish home, Balmoral Castle, after her health had been getting worse for a year. She was in charge for a record 70 years.

Before she was buried at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle, world leaders came to Westminster Abbey for a state funeral. People gathered in the streets by the hundreds of thousands, and the same number of people stood in line for four days straight to pay their respects as her body lay in state.

The first coronation since 1953 is expected to bring out similar crowds, along with a lot of pomp and grandeur that has been well planned.

At a meeting of the formal advisory group called the Privy Council later this year, Charles is likely to make an official announcement about the date of the coronation.

During the ceremony, the highest-ranking priest in the Church of England, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who has been crowning the monarch since 1066, will “anoint, bless, and consecrate” him.
