Covid deaths probably three times higher than the current records

That means about 18.2 million people died as a result of Covid in the two years between the start of 2020 and the end of 2021, more than three times the stated 5.9 million deaths.

Because of latencies and abnormalities in reporting of Covid death data that might substantially affect the estimates, the authors calculated excess death estimates for the entire research period, not by week or month.

The highest rates were found in lower-income nations in Latin America, Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa, according to the study, which was published in The Lancet. However, other high-income countries, such as Italy and areas of the United States, have very high death rates.

In the UK, the anticipated total number of Covid-related deaths in 2020 and 2021 was around 173,000, with an excess mortality rate of 130 individuals per 100,000, similar to official figures.
